I like the benelli but its noticeably heavier. It is also finished the best of the other two. Rounded edges, thicker barrel, fit and feel is the best as well. If I could only pick one, id keep the mossberg 835. But i am a duck hunter first, clay buster second, ranch work third.The quality and specs of these 2 guns is beyond the Mossberg 500 and a used Remington 870. The barrel on the Mossberg is parkerized while the receiver on the Supernova is encased inside polymer to guard against rust. Both never jam. What I've been thinking about is the Remington 870 (various versions including customizing on my own,) the Mossberg 590A1 and 500 and lastly the Benelli SuperNova Tactical. What I am concerned about with the Benelli is how reliable it is and how well it holds up. The 870 is a KNOWN entity.

I went to 3 hunting stores today looking to purchase my first small game (and turkey) 12 gauge pump action shotgun for under $500. From some prior research I was interested in the Remington 870 Express, Mossberg 500, or Benelli Nova as they seemed to be similar and popular introductory choices.
