So to fix, just reset your Carta by flipping the batteries and everything should work good again. I'm pretty sure the faulty batteries that came with mine are tricking the system and causing this issue. I sent a message to support about the batteries not holding a full charge a week ago and still have yet to hear from anyone.
It’s not super important. I keep mine just above the percolators. If you overfill, it will take more pressure to draw the air in. More pressure = more draw on the insert, and the easier it is to cause the oil to splash out of the insert. Keep the water level on the lower side, take nice slow draws. You’ll be alright.
