Alas, the newer Brinkmann Trailblazer Limited Editions, like the current Char-Broil Oklahoma Joe’s Longhorn, were but a shadow of the great smokers of yore. The basic design was similar to the classic 1/4″ pits, but quality, construction and, fittingly, the price were drastically reduced. The warranty dropped from 75 years to 1 year.
The stock Brinkmann smoker has a single 2" diameter inlet hole, providing just over 3 square inches of air intake area - not too different from the Weber. But there is no control provided for that hole, and my son felt the intake controls on his Weber were very useful - and more critical than the exhaust damper. There are a few things to note about this bankruptcy. Brinkmann has discontinued the sale of any parts, accessories or grills through their website directly. Additionally, their website is now not at all working. Brinkmann has disconnected the customer service phone number listed on their manuals and website which was 1-800-468-5252. Well, fired it up to season it in to a temperature of 400+ degrees no problem. Took temp. down to 300* in went turkey and pork butt. 5hrs later yummy vitals came out! I own a Lang "60" smoker and for the money U. cannot beat this Brinkmann! Suggest buying one as they are no longer being made. Its called chapter-11 for Brinkmann.
