The ticking sound could be a number of things that have already been described, but the combination of ticking/chirping could be as simple as your belt and/or idler arm. I see you are in ND. If your belt is old coupled with the cold temps, that could also describe your problem. It's a simple idea I know.

To see if its injectors get some one with a good scan tool to go along and deactivate injectors one by one. If tick stops with x injector that’s the culprit.
