One used a Commadore C-64 and had the NGC and Messier catalog in the data base and display the cooridinates of were the scope was pointed. It used a two star alignment code.

Sky Commander Computer with Zhumell Hardware Set Digital Setting Circles: a different experience in visual observation. The GOTO systems of the scope mounts allow us to go automatically to any object in the sky. The fact is that without knowing how to align with the polar and without knowing where the stars, clusters, galaxies or nebulae are, we can easily find and see them thanks to a ... At the request of a user, I updated my ASCOM Driver for Digital Setting Circles to include a couple of the northern constellations--Ursa Minor and Draco. Our encoder mount packages include encoders pre-installed on our Tele Vue mounts along with the cables necessary to work with your Digital Setting Circles or computer (DSC / Computer). This equipment greatly enhances your observing fun and capability of your telescope. We also sell an encoder kit (STN-4001) for existing mounts without encoders. The digital setting circles are markings visible on your telescope’s mount. There are more little computers that help you direct your telescope to locate a target astronomical object. They help astronomers in discovering angles and the pointing direction of a telescope toward a particular object.

Digital Setting Circles are a lot easier to use for finding objects, but analog setting circles can do something that the DSCs can't: Allow you to accurately polar align in daylight. This is of course unimportant for a permanently mounted setup, but it can be important for a portable one.Sep 4, 2017 ... Learn to use the Push To feature in Deep-Sky Planner with Nexus DSC over WiFi.Digital Setting Circle systems do not on their own make a telescope move in any direction to any position such as "Closed Loop Computer Controlled" Systems may do. Location: South Wales. Posted September 6, 2008. I've got the televue digital setting circles on a televue gibraltar alt az mount. I REALLY like them. They are very easy to set up - level, then find two stars, and you're off. If you don't want to see the planets you don't even have to input date, time and location. You don’t need any of the options like index, ball bearings, etc. Encoders are rated in counts per revolution (CPR), but because we use both channels in quadrature mode, the actual resolution (what I call tics/rev) is four times the CPR. So, encoders rated at 1024 CPR will give us 4096 tics/rev, or about 0.09 degrees per tic (assuming a gear ... Place the small star washer and nut over the encoder shaft and tighten with a 1⁄2" wrench, crescent wrench or square nose pliers. Press the encoder shaft into the Tension Knob and tighten the pivot bolt setscrew with the supplied 5/64" hex key. Mark the end hole of the arm on the rocker box bottom and drill 1⁄2" deep with a 1/8" bit.Leaving a slight bit of tension in the set screw will allow you to rotate the setting circle without needing tools, but also allow enough friction for the drive to keep the R.A. accurate for the entire observing session. Finding objects without use of the R.A. circle is done fairly easily as well, more on that later.Jan 31, 2021 · Page 1 of 8 - DIY Digital setting circles Wifi /Bluetooth with 2 encoders - posted in ATM, Optics and DIY Forum: I am sharing with you all the details of my arduino WiFi / Bluetooth Digital Setting Circles project I put together in April 2020 and tested dozens of times since then.
